Miley Cyrus Claims to Be an Iron Maiden Fan: Guitar World Calls BS!

In a new video posted on her mileyworld.com web site, 16-year-old pop star Miley Cyrus claims that the fact that she was recently photographed wearing an Iron Maiden does not mean that she is "a poser."
In the clip she says: "I'm sure you all have seen me rocking an Iron Maiden shirt lately and I know there's been some people saying, 'Oh, she's a poser' and 'The only reason she's wearing Iron Maiden is because she wants to be a rock star… So, Iron Maiden — ‘Run to the Hills,' 'Fear of the Dark,’ ‘Running Free,’ [all] good song(s), check it out. So thank you, guys. I actually do like Iron Maiden."
Is Miley telling the truth about her love for the legendary metal band? We aren't buying it!
In this segment from the otherwise unbearable nine-minute video, it seems as though Miley briefly looks away from the camera, down and to her right, before every mention of an Iron Maiden song she supposedly digs...as if the song titles are written on a cue card off camera. When her friend announces “Sanctuary” as her personal favorite, she too looks away from the camera to the right before mentioning the song.

Fender Announces Road Worn Band Competition

Fender announces the Road Worn Competition, a nationwide band competition engaging musicians, and the dealers who support them, to submit their music for a chance to win a prize package worth more than $50,000.
Starting today through May 25, bands across the United States are invited to submit their music at getroadworn.com for a chance to win a road-ready prize package featuring a fully customized Fender Road Worn 2008 Toyota Tundra with matching trailer (customized by Studio Number One and Obey Giant) full of Fender Road Worn series instruments, Fender electric guitar and bass amplification, a Gretsch drumset, and a fuel allowance of $1,500. Additionally, participating Fender dealers will host “casting calls” throughout the lifespan of the competition in an effort to provide bands with more opportunities to showcase their talents and create more excitement in and around their stores.
Fender has engaged FameCast to power the submission site for the Road Worn Competition using FameCast’s proprietary contest management platform to collect and present each band’s submissions and rank them using a variety of metrics such as online fan voting, community engagement and a judging panel of music industry experts. A series of rounds will commence throughout the contest, narrowing the field down to an eventual winner.
The competition coincides with the release of Fender’s brand new Road Worn Series, a line of guitars and basses that come with a head start on history and bring the player the best of both worlds—a killer aged design aesthetic that conjures up the ghosts of past music lives, paired perfectly with the modern functionality, playability and high-quality that players know to expect from Fender.
Based on classic Fender instruments of the 1950s and ’60s, and production methods invented at the world-renowned Fender Custom Shop, Road Worn instruments reflect the mystic quality of life on the road. The series consists of a ’50s Tele, ’50s Strat, ’60s Strat, ’50s Precision Bass and ’60s Jazz Bass guitars.
“The Fender Road Worn competition is intended as a spark to ignite the creative fires of music-makers nationwide,” said Justin Norvell, marketing director for Fender electric guitars. “The competition is a way to give national exposure to our players—our customers—and their incredible creativity. We’ve always said at Fender, we make art so our players can make their art, and now we’ll help share that art on a massive scale.
“The competition also deepens our partnership with Toyota, showing how both brands complement each other in a very natural and real way. It also presents participating authorized Fender dealers with one more opportunity to build relationships with their customers; to further ingrain themselves into their local communities and be a part of something truly special.”

Iron Maiden Announce Flight 666 Movie

British heavy rock legends Iron Maiden, in association with Banger Films, EMI Records, UMe and Arts Alliance Media, announce that they will be releasing a feature length documentary film into cinemas worldwide on April 21, 2009. Entitled Iron Maiden: Flight 666, the movie follows the band on the first leg of their Somewhere Back in Time World Tour in February and March of 2008.
The Maiden tour plan was something that had never been attempted before on such a grand scale. Circumnavigating the globe, the band flew in a specially customized Boeing 757 airliner with their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, playing 23 sold out stadium and arena shows in Asia, Australia and North, Central and South America in just 45 days. They played in 13 countries, also landing in Azerbaijan and Papua New Guinea en route for fuel stops, travelling 70,000km and performing to almost half a million fans – a schedule that was only made possible by having their own “magic carpet” enabling them to go where they wanted with all the key elements of band, crew and equipment on board one plane, which was christened Ed Force One. Lead singer and Airline Captain Bruce Dickinson was not only to perform 23 shows, but he was also the pilot flying the plane for much of the way.

The band were accompanied everywhere by award winning documentary makers Banger Films from Toronto in Canada, who have received international critical acclaim for their previous movies Metal, A Headbangers Journey and recently Global Metal. Filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn and their team bring an intimate behind the scenes view of this remarkable journey, with a close look at the logistics involved and following Team Maiden in the cockpit, on the plane and on and offstage, getting to the heart of this innovative global adventure of a band that has very rarely even let cameras backstage before.
Shot in high definition, the movie will be screened in 2K digital cinema, with superb 5.1 surround sound, mixed by the band’s producer Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley. Iron Maiden: Flight 666 brings to the screen all the drama, excitement and hysteria that followed the band around the world every time their Boeing 757 'Ed Force One' touched down in a new country. The film documents the intensity of the punishing show schedules, the struggle with the time zones, the pressures of ensuring that every performance matched the energy of the many thousands of ecstatic and expectant fans from many cultural backgrounds, unusual angles from the spectacular shows......and of course the fun had on the way!
Iron Maiden: Flight 666 is an honest and revealing portrait of one of the world’s most successful rock bands, a must-see for their millions of fans around the world, giving an inspirational account of the chaotic and often humorous world of a band touring the four corners of the world in the most extraordinary way.
Participating cinemas will be announced shortly.

Jonas Bros. Duet With Taylor, Cover Shania

Although details are still scant, the Jonas Brothers will be including a series of surprises on the soundtrack to their "3D Concert Experience" film.

Due Feb. 24 from Hollywood, the set is expected to include a duet with former tourmate Taylor Swift, a cover of Shania Twain's "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" and a new Jonas Brothers song.

A video for the previously released Jonas Brothers song "Tonight," taken from the 3D movie, is expected to launch this week.

"3D Concert Experience" was shot last summer on tour. In addition to Swift, young Disney film/recording artist Demi Lovato also appears.

Meanwhile, Hollywood has already penciled in a June 16 release date for the group's next studio album, barely a year on the heels 2008's "A Little Bit Longer." That set has sold 1.43 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
